There are hundreds of places and spaces for our planks: kitchen islands and entryways, bathrooms, dens and doors. Features, accents, and alcoves. Big and small, we love them all.
We pretty much adore them everywhere but one of the sweetest spaces to be featured? Bedrooms! You may wonder why we love being in rooms where you spend most of your time sleeping… seems sort of silly, right? But bedrooms are so much more than where you sleep. It’s where you go to binge watch your favorite series, to rest when your sick, to recharge. It’s where you start your day and prepare to conquer the world. It’s where you laugh til you cry and sometimes cry until you laugh. Your bedroom is a special space where a lifetime of memories will be made.
We recently met two lovely ladies who were dreaming of ditching their drab rooms and we were happy to help. One opted for a complete feature wall and overhauled her guest room. The other created a unique headboard with industrial inspired features. Both used Plank and Mill’s, whitewash peel and stick planks to accentuate their unique spaces.
Our second bedroom feature is by Simply Morgen. She knew she wanted a whitewash accent in her master bedroom but was torn as to how she wanted to do it.
After a bit of discussion, she opted to create a custom headboard. Not only does this create a focal point in the room, it also makes an adorable backdrop for all the baby pictures. Morgen was pregnant when she began this project and now Scotlyn is enjoying the results.
By installing the planks onto a sheet of hardboard before installing, this headboard will move where the family moves. The addition of the cage lights adds a sweet farmhouse feel to this custom piece. Is there anything sweeter than a handcrafted piece made with love? Okay, well aside from Scotlyn, is there anything sweeter?
